Some of the more obvious obstacles confronting 'For Sale by Owners'
 
Saving the commission - Many private buyers are motivated to buy privately to save the commission. Their objective is the same as the seller's.
 
Limited exposure - Without a listing on MLS, the property's exposure is limited. Lawn signs direct about one prospect in ten to a property. Open Houses do not sell property, and other issues can arise with OH. One percent of sales can be attributed to an Open House says organized real estate. Mind you, my first sale was accomplished with an Open House. So I kept at. It didn't happen again over a 22 year period.
 
Unqualified Buyers - Many prospects touring through the home of a FSBO are not qualified. They may not even be in the market for a property. The problem for sellers is that you have no way to determine that; after all, what's needed is a showing.
